BMW is clearly not taking hybrids lightly. After the stunning Vision ED, the company has showcased not one but two Hybrid models - the Active Hybrid X6 and the Active Hybrid 7. Both have a turbocharged V8 petrol engine combined with an electric motor(s) to provide more than 450bhp and a 0-100km/h time of less than six seconds. While the Active Hybrid X6 has two electric motors, the 7 has just one. The Active Hybrid 7 uses a conventional auto gearbox whereas the Active Hybrid X6 has a CVT. It goes without saying that fuel efficiency has shot up and CO2 figures have dwindled.
